Philipp edits spruce #25

In May 20089 the spruce looked nice. In the following vegetation period it gained a lot in ramification and it was too much finally. So I asked Philipp to edit the tree and make the crown much lighter again.

Philipp edits mugo cascade

In September 2009 the mugo pine looked good. When I took off the wire in April 2010 it looked pathetic. Philipp wired and restyled it last week.

development of Japanese white pine

I have decided that my Japanese white pine should have a new front eventually. The tree will be rotated counter-clock-wise two hours. Today I edited the crown. In April 2011 I will change the position in the pot. The view over the edge is the new one. Now the old front looks a bit worse than before. This is how the game is played. Sometimes one just cannot have it both ways. But the new front is exiting, I think.

defoliation of Japanese maple

Now the maple looks like a big animal has bitten the crown. Just wait for three weeks and we'll see what will happen.

Philipp improves Scots pine clump

I have collected this Scots pine , Pinus sylvestris, in June 2008 in the high alps at the timber line. It stood on a rock in very flat soil. The bucks used it every year to get the velvet off their new antlers. Originally it was a regular upright tree. The bucks killed the main trunk and the lowest branches became new trunks which formed a clump. It was very easy to collect the tree. It stood on this thin soil on a rock and I just pulled it off with all the roots. At home I stuffed it into this big hollowed lava rock. Then it rested for two years. Today Philipp brought it one step further. Now it will rest for to more years in full sun. It will be watered and fed aggressively. So it should get lots of new growth and become quite vigorous. Then it can be styled finally in one afternoon.
