trident maple development

As one can see this trident maple, Acer burgerianum, is quite vigorous after I have planted it into this larger pot this spring. This is the second time it gets cut back this year. As one can see I only cut on top and leave the lower shoots as they are. Many of my trees look kind of funny all summer long. This will result in strengthening and thickening of the lower branches relative to the upper ones.
